Nsansa Head Teacher Arrested Over a Facebook Post — Status Update Turns Into Police Matter 😭📱

Nsansa Head Teacher Arrested Over Cyberbullying, Only in Zambia can a Facebook notice go from “public announcement” to “open docket” real quick.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Mwala Yuyi has confirmed the arrest of 67-year-old Esther Sulamoyo, Head Teacher at Nsansa Inter Education Trust, after a Facebook post allegedly decided to do too much. The post, according to police, crossed the line from notice into harassment and humiliation of former school bursar Theresa Banda Lengwe.

Yes. A Facebook post. Not a punch. Not a slap. Not even a WhatsApp voice note. A post.

Police say a docket has been opened, investigations are ongoing, and the head teacher was arrested then released on police bond. Meaning Facebook nearly sent someone straight to cells.

Now here’s where it gets interesting.

Ms Lengwe, an accountant who worked as bursar for about two years, says she resigned properly on December 29, 2025, and even gave January 2, 2026, as her last working day. She says she handed over everything by the book. Pens down. Files submitted. Exit clean.

But according to her, the school said “No ❤️” to her resignation and demanded she stays an extra month. Because apparently resignation letters now need approval like leave days.

Then boom 💥 January 21, 2026, a Facebook notice appears, accusing her of resigning without notice and failing to hand over. Facebook became the staff notice board, disciplinary committee, and court all in one.

Her lawyers, Chisowa Chambers, were not amused. At all.

They say the post was unlawful, defamatory, and completely ignored the Employment Code Act. Translation: “Delete that post before this turns expensive.”

And expensive it got, they’ve demanded:
– Immediate removal of the Facebook post
– A public apology on the same platform
– Compensation of K4.5 million

Yes. Four point five million kwacha. From a status update.

The warning was clear: apologize or we see each other in court.

Moral of the story?
Facebook is not a staff meeting.
Facebook is not HR.
Facebook is not a resignation tribunal.

One post, one caption, and suddenly police are involved, lawyers are circling, and bond is being signed.

Let this be a lesson to institutions everywhere: if you’re angry, breathe. If you’re frustrated, call HR. If you want to vent, talk to your pillow.

Because Facebook receipts are undefeated and they can cost you your peace, your money, and your weekend. 😭📉
