Man Arrested in Attempted Sale of Niece Shocks Manyinga Community
Man Arrested for Allegedly Trying to Sell His Own Niece, police in Manyinga District have arrested a 48-year-old man accused of attempting to sell his own niece in a disturbing case that has left residents stunned.
According to Zambia Police Service spokesperson for the region, Brighton Siwale, the suspect, Abibson Chilomba, was apprehended on Wednesday evening following a crucial tip-off from local businesswoman Joyce Kayoya.
Reports indicate that around 19:00 hours on February 12, the suspect allegedly approached Ms. Kayoya at her shop attempting to sell the young girl. Alarmed by the request, she quickly alerted authorities.
Police officers responded swiftly, tracking down the suspect in the Muluwa area of Sikufule and taking him into custody. He is currently being held on charges related to human trafficking as investigations continue.
Authorities in North-Western Province say more details will be provided as the case unfolds, while community members remain shaken that such an incident could happen so close to home
